Fine Lines

Whenever I think about parenting, the main thing that perplexes me is how many fine lines there are between what you want your child to be and not be.

I want my daughter to…

  • Have high self-esteem but not be conceited
  • Love her body & feel beautiful, but not dress like a hooker
  • Grow up to be sexually confident, but not promiscuous
  • Be patient, kind and forgiving, but not to be a doormat
  • Be open-minded to people with diverse points of view, but to find her own path
  • Be courageous in sharing her opinions, but respectful to those with different opinions

And one of the MAIN ones that weighs constantly on my mind…

  • Know everyone deserves love and compassion, but that few people deserve trust.

this is a good one. so true.
and it’s not like you get an “a for effort”.
but, if you are concerned with these things then it shows you will be aware and have a good chance of making the right decisions.
